Below are some safety tips to observe this Halloween during trick or treating!
For trick or treaters:
Wear bright colours or reflective clothing or use flashlights or glowsticks which will help trick or treater to be better seen
Always look both ways before crossing the street and make eye contact with the driver
If a trick or treater is wearing a mask, ensure that the mask is properly fitted and does not impact the vision of the trick or treater
Walk – don’t run!
Ensure the trick or treater stays on the side walks or, where no side walks exist, to the furthest side of the road as possible
Do not dart in and out of traffic
Walk in well-lit areas
For drivers:
Slow down!
Stop at all marked cross walks and intersections to allow trick or treaters to cross
Stop at all unmarked intersections to allow trick or treaters to cross
Keep vigilant – especially when there are younger children around as they may dart into traffic without warning
Don’t drink and drive
Wishing you all a safe and happy Halloween!
